Since the Government of Alberta released the updated Temporary Measures on September 15, including the Restrictions Exemption Program(REP), there has been a general sense of frustration within the hockey community.
The original announcement was positive - stating that youth sport, including competition, could continue along with masking and physical distancing requirements. The frustration stems from the lack of clarity regarding the intent and implementation of the REP, and how it impacts on youth sport participants, some of whom are eligible to be vaccinated, and some of whom are not eligible
Hockey Alberta has heard this frustration from parents, players, coaches, officials and MHA volunteers. We are all trying to do the right thing for our participants and for our sport. Thank you for your efforts to date, and we ask you to keep up the good work that you are doing on behalf of our sport.
